Crivitz Cottage Rentals with Northwoods Heritage

Our History

Located on the beautiful West shore, Pine Beach is one of the oldest, continuously running resorts on Lake Noquebay. Its tradition is rooted in providing a quaint, family-oriented, and friendly place to stay and enjoy everything beautiful Lake Noquebay, Crivitz, and the surrounding areas have to offer. Where people come as guests and leave as friends. Many of the current Pine Beach guests have been coming to Pine Beach their entire lives. It is not uncommon to talk to a guest who has been staying in the same cottage, the same week, every year, for the last 40 years.

1929 - The Beginning

Pine Beach Resort was first established by Frank and Minnie Ulander with the very first cottage (Still Cottage #1) built in 1929. Over the next few years they built 6 cottages. The cottages were simple 1 or 2-room cottages with no indoor plumbing. A community bath house was eventually built that used to stand between what are currently cottages 2 & 3. All the guests at the resort would walk from their cottage to utilize the bath house to go to the bathroom or get water for bathing and cooking. Cottages did not have electricity or other amenities. Eventually, the cottages had ice boxes inside them and guests would get blocks of ice to put in their ice box to keep their perishable foods cold. This ice was cut out of lake Noquebay during the winter when the lake was frozen and stored under a pile of sawdust and would stay frozen throughout the summer.

1955 - The Pichas

In 1955 George and Lilly Picha took over the resort from the Ulander’s. They took what was started and continuously improved upon it. Over the next 30 years they added extra rooms, plumbing, electricity, bathrooms and kitchens in the individual cottages. They also built 2 more cottages with the most recent one being built in 1975, which is currently Cottage #7. This cottage was originally built as their home and office that they would sell supplies and refreshments from.

1984 - Picha Jr.

In 1984 George Picha Jr and his wife Shirly took over Pine Beach after George retired from serving 25 years in the Air Force. George and Shirly continued the tradition of improving what the Ulander’s and his parents built by providing a family friendly resort on lake Noquebay. Spending most of his life at Pine Beach with his parents, George was very familiar and comfortable with taking over the reigns from his parents. George and Shirly continuously maintained and improved every cottage throughout their time and are still maintaining a cottage of their own right next to the resort. They remodeled every cottage during their ownership with modern windows, doors, appliances and fixtures. Make sure you say “Hi” to George and Shirly if you see them around. However, they are probably out fishing now but 70 years of resort stories are incredible.

2022 - The Mannings

In 2022, keeping with tradition, Rob and Farron Manning have taken over Pine Beach after Rob retired from serving 26 years in the Army. We strive to maintain the great traditions that have been part of Pine Beach for the last 87 years. We endeavor to provide our guests the experience of a traditional family resort here on Lake Noquebay. We will continue to update and maintain these cottages that are nearly 100 years old in the hopes the family traditions can live on for many more generations for both new and old guests and everyone can continue to enjoy this pristine, and arguably most beautiful West shores of Lake Noquebay for the next 30 years and beyond.

Our Story Begins on the Shores of Lake Noquebay

Pine Beach Cottages LLC has been a peaceful retreat for generations of families and travelers visiting the Northwoods. Located on the quiet, west-facing shores of Lake Noquebay in Crivitz, Wisconsin, our property has become more than a vacation spot—it's a home away from home for those seeking calm, comfort, and connection with nature.

What started decades ago as a simple lakefront lodging experience has grown into a small group of well-kept, fully equipped cottages designed for families, couples, and outdoor lovers looking to unwind. Over time, we've made careful updates to modernize each unit while preserving the charm, character, and rustic beauty that make Pine Beach unique.

We are proud to be a small, independent, locally owned business. We don't believe in over-commercializing the lake experience. Instead, we focus on offering our guests what matters most: privacy, simplicity, and a chance to breathe.

A Family-Owned Legacy of Hospitality

Pine Beach Cottages remains family operated, with local ownership dedicated to keeping the property welcoming and well-maintained. Our mission is rooted in traditional Northwoods hospitality: friendly service, fair pricing, and the belief that nature should be enjoyed, not overrun.

We believe that time at the lake should be relaxed, informal, and memorable. We’ve hosted countless fishing weekends, annual family reunions, romantic getaways, and spontaneous road trips. Many of our guests return year after year, and we’re proud to have become part of their vacation traditions.

Each guest is treated with personal attention and care. Whether it's helping you dock your boat, recommending a local restaurant in town, or making sure your fire pit is stocked with wood, we’re never far when you need us—and always respectful of your privacy when you don’t.

Serving Crivitz and Surrounding Areas

Our cottages are just a short drive from the shops, restaurants, and services of downtown Crivitz. The community is welcoming, down-to-earth, and built around appreciation for the outdoors. Whether you’re hiking through Marinette County’s famous waterfall trails, fishing on local rivers, or just taking in the views, Crivitz offers something for every traveler.

Being centrally located makes Pine Beach a convenient home base for exploring northern Wisconsin. We're also a short trip from Wausaukee, Pembine, and the Menominee River region—making it easy to experience the best of Marinette County without long drives.

  • Affordable Pontoon Rentals – Enjoy a day on the water with our easy-to-book pontoon boats, available on-site.

  • Quiet, Low-Impact Environment – No large crowds, no noisy resort bars, just peaceful lake life at its best.

We intentionally avoid overdeveloping the property. You won’t find a pool, spa, or luxury add-ons here. Instead, you'll enjoy campfires, sandy feet, loon calls, and the kind of fresh air you remember from childhood.

A Place to Make Memories

The most common feedback we receive from returning guests is how much they appreciate the quiet and how much their kids look forward to coming back each year. These aren’t just cottages—they’re memory makers.

Children swimming at the beach, grandparents relaxing on the deck, parents teaching their kids to fish—these are the moments that make Pine Beach more than a place to stay. They make it a place to remember.

We’re honored every time a guest chooses us as part of their vacation. That trust drives us to maintain a clean, safe, and inviting space for all who visit.

Looking Ahead

As caretakers of this land and this property, we’re committed to preserving the environment and the spirit of Lake Noquebay for future generations. That means continuing to care for the shoreline, maintaining our cottages with pride, and welcoming visitors who love the outdoors as much as we do.

We aren’t looking to expand or commercialize. Our goal is to offer a consistent, high-quality experience year after year—for the kind of guests who value quiet mornings on the dock, homemade meals shared on the porch, and timeless time by the lake.
